Good Deals on Hotels in Dublin

I stayed in hotels in Dublin while working there on a contract for several months in early 2006.  I was able to get cheap prices at several hotels during my stays throughout the week and find out which ones suited me best.  My main requirements were:
1. Low cost: I was working to a tight budget, so needed to keep costs as low as possible.
2. Easily bookable through a reliable method that allowed easy comparison.
3. Central to Dublin, with easy access to the office in which I was working.
4. A decent breakfast included in the price, for convenience and to save having to buy one.
5. Fairly quiet and comfortable, for a decent night's sleep.  I don't mind some noise (I've got 5 children, so I'm used to disturbed nights!!), but being woken up is inconvenient.
6. Good shower.

Cheap Hotels in Dublin

The River House
A personal favourite that I stayed at for several weeks.  The best of the Irish breakfasts, with great black & white pudding, tomato, sausage, at least 2 rashers of well-cooked bacon, hash potato, fried egg, toast, cereal, juice, etc and a big pot of tea (or filter coffee).  Friendly service and spacious rooms.  Powerful showers, with cubicles big enough to bend down in if you dropped the soap.  The TV channel selection was limited, but this suited me and saved me wasting evenings channel hopping.  Ideally situated in one of the quieter streets of the Temple Bar area, with easy access to transport, shopping and central Dublin.

The Fleet Street Hotel (Formerly The Principal Hotel)
Big hotel located at the City centre end of Temple Bar, but still surprisingly quiet.  The Irish breakfast was served from food warmers in a spectacular, high-ceilinged dining room, which was a bit cold during winter despite the fires.  Food was a bit dry and the eggs (scrambled only) suffered from being kept in a warmer for ages.  Still pretty good, though.  Good TV channel selection and decent rooms.

Kellys Hotel
Near the Temple Bar area, but on a busy road, so traffic noise throughout the night and from early morning if you were in one of the rooms at the front of the hotel.  A good, freshly-cooked breakfast, although not very large.  They were friendly enough, though, so I'm sure you could ask for more.

Leeson Hotel
For me, a convenient location just outside the centre, near St. Stephens Green, decent facilities and TV.  A smart designer setting for breakfast spoilt by a TV blaring out cartoons in the adjacent bar area.  A cooked breakfast was extra and looked OK, though I didn't try it.  False fire alarms disturbed my sleep on a couple of nights and may have been a result of clientele from the great-looking bar in the hotel.  Noise from this and the street would disturb you if you had a room on the lower floors.
